Design a Better Tomorrow for Someone

Is it possible to better the overall well being of humanity, and make a positive impact in this problem saturated world through the use of our creative and technical talents and skills? I argue that, yes, on an individual level each of us can play their role in helping someone that can’t help themselves. How would we use our knowledge about Web 2.0, Photoshop and Maya to do this though?

This post was actually inspired by “Visual Spicer” Taras Lesko. Out of sheer passion, he took it upon himself to find sponsors for children in need around the world, encouraging people to take responsibility for the 25,000+ kids a day that die from preventable causes. He is in no way affiliated with World Vision, but simply found good cause in their organization, and in turn created a contemporary work of art that addresses the issue. This piece has inspired me to sponsor a kid, I challege you to use your talents to better humanity by inspiring others to lend a helping hand (not necessarily through World Vision, there are plenty of other great humanitarian organizations).

Trident Design is a financial supporter of UNICEF. Donate to the disaster reliefs of UNICEF and the Red Cross today to help those affected by this catastrophe.

Kids in Africa are dying of starvation, families are trying to recover what’s left of their lives in Haiti and Chili, the list goes on. We as designers contain a talent that directly aims to impact the mind and heart. We usually use that talent to generate money or attention for a client, maybe we could use that same skill to generate awareness that WE who are more fortunate can help someone eat for a week for a couple bucks. We spend so much money trying to become more green anyway, maybe some of the effort put into trying to save the environment can be put into saving a chunk of humanity?
